An Artist Who Doesn't Make Art

There’s a difference between thinking like an artist and living like one. You can dream, plan, and talk about making art all you want; but, until you sit down and create, you haven't done anything.

Face Resistance
In The War of Art, Steven Pressfield tells us about Resistance—the force that keeps you from doing the work. It’s the excuses, distractions, fear of failure, and fear of success. Resistance tells you that inspiration will come later, that you’re not ready, that you need more time. But the only way to defeat Resistance is to act.
Create More, Consume Less
Looking at other people’s art won’t make you an artist. Social media makes it easy to feel like you’re in the creative world when you’re really just consuming it. Endless scrolling is a passive trap—an easy way to feel inspired without actually doing anything. Get offline and get to work.
Set a Schedule, and Stick To It.
Real artists don’t wait for the perfect moment. They set a schedule and stick to it. Whether it’s an hour a day or ten minutes, consistently showing upisall that matters. Treat your art like a job, not a hobby.
Share It, or Don’t—Just Make
Some people like to create to share, others create and keep it just for themselves. All that matters is doing the work.
Stop thinking. Stop waiting. Make something cool.
